YOUR BUILDING MATERIALS

1 Corinthians 3:12 Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw.

Everyone is a builder of something. It could be a family, business, institution, non-profit organisation, legacy and many more. Some people are starters while others are building upon what others have done already. In our case as believers of Christ Jesus, this is what He said about building in Matthew 16:16-18 Simon Peter answered and said, "You are  Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. For us as believers, the foundation of our faith has been laid for us already Jesus Christ is the Messiah and the Son of the Living God. 1 Corinthians 3:11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ. Our foundation is grounded, firm and deep. The foundation which is Christ Jesus can never be destroyed.

But now we have the option of the building materials to use; gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay and straw. In building both interior and exterior are considered but every wise builder first works on the interior before the exterior. The interior represents our personal relationship with the Lord and the exterior represents our external relationship with others. A house is not built with one material different materials are required at every stage. The writer admonishes us to be careful how we build upon what Christ has done.

The materials available to us have been arranged according to quality and worth. You ought to ask yourself that in your personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and in your relationship with others whether you are using gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay or straw. This question is important because the survival of our works when tested through fire is what will give you eternal rewards. 1 Corinthians 3:13-14 But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward.

Prayer: Holy Spirit help me with very wisdom and grace I need in contributing my quota in building God's Kingdom in Jesus' name. Amen
