THE WOMAN'S SATISFACTION

Judges 1:15 She said, “Let me have another gift. You have already given me land in the Negev; now please give me springs of water, too.” So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.

The quest for varieties of things and the desire to want more has made society especially men believe that a woman can never be satisfied. Genesis 3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave it to her husband with her, and he ate it. From Genesis three we have shown three things that move a woman. The first is that women like good things, secondly they like things pleasing to the eyes thus they beautiful things and desire to have wisdom.  In a nutshell, we can say women have cravings for a lot of things.

Some people believe marriage is the ultimate satisfaction women need but that is not so true. Eve was married to Adam in the Garden of Eden yet when the false benefits of a single tree was introduced to her it caught her attention so much she defied the word of God together with her husband. Definitely, there should be something that should satisfy a woman more than a husband, wisdom and material things.

Today we learn from Achsah the daughter of Caleb what makes a woman satisfied. She was married and she had already received an inheritance from his father even before marriage. But right after marriage she went to ask his father for another gift, some versions say a blessing. Judges 1:13-15 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb`s younger brother, took it; so he gave him his daughter Achsah as a wife. Now it happened, when she came to him, that she urged him to ask her father for a field. And she dismounted from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, "What do you wish?" So she said to him, "Give me a blessing; since you have given me land in the South, give me also springs of water." And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

Though Achsah asked her husband to ask her father for the gift she was the one who got down to ask for the springs of water. It was a pressing need for her. She knew her life and marriage won't go far without Him. She understood that she can lose all things including her husband but this one will always satisfy and stay with her forever. When everything in her life is empty this will be refilled again. The springs of water represent the Holy Spirit. The other gift she needed urgently was Holy Spirit. She knew that will give her the ultimate satisfaction she desires, she will not go to her matrimonial home without Him.

John 14:16 -17 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will be you forever. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
As a woman, you can have marriage and all the material possessions but your life will die out without the Holy Spirit. When wine run out at the wedding of Canna the water pots were filled with water turned into the sweetest wine at the wedding feast. Things will always run out and get dry that is why you need the Holy Spirit. Woman you will have the best, and sweetest of everything thing if you will allow the Holy Spirit to fill you up. The Holy Spirit is the woman's ultimate satisfaction.

Prayer: Holy Spirit we come to you today as daughters who desire nothing but your filling. Fill us up till we overflow with your power, presence and fragrance in Jesus' name. Amen.
