WHY YOU MUST STAY HUMBLE

1Corinthians 1:27-29 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.

If God is working through you it doesn't mean you are perfect or you are His best candidate. In God, there is nothing like the best. He says in His word that His criteria for election are foolishness, weak, base things and despised things.

What does it mean for God to choose foolish things? It simply means His option doesn't make sense to the natural mind. In the case of David using just a stone and sling to fight the giant Goliath. Goliath thought it was foolishness but that was the wisdom of God. 1 Samuel 17:40,43 Then he took his staff in his hand; and he chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in a shepherd`s bag, in a pouch which he had, and his sling was in his hand. And he drew near to the Philistine. So the Philistine said to David, "Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?" And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

In weakness God always sees strength. Joel 3:10b says let the week say I am strong. Weakness is when one is lacking in force (usually strength) or ability or
unable to sustain a great weight, pressure, or strain. The instance of  Samson hanging between the pillars of the Philistines and Jesus Christ hanging on the cross of Calvary are clear demonstrations of weakness. Beaten, hands and legs nailed to the cross, eyes gouged out etc. What can anyone do in such a situation? Yet in their weaknesses, Samson pulled down the pillars of the Philistines and won a great victory. The death of Jesus Christ is the greatest victory won for humanity.

A clear example of someone who was in a lowly state or in her base who was lifted was Hannah. After God opened her barren womb she said in 1 Samuel 2:7 The Lord makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and lifts up. A lowly state does not allow you to lift your head, it relegates you to the backside of life just like the only surviving child of Jonathan Mepheboseth.

Joseph was despised by his brothers because of his dream. When you are despised people do want to associate with you and they do not regard you.
Am sure you can Identify with these bible characters and more. If you carefully check your life you will see God picked you from one of these situations; foolishness, weak, lowly and despised and has brought you to the place of honour for this reason you must stay humble at all times.
