GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY

Judges 11:11 So Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him their ruler and commander of the army. At Mizpah, in the presence of the lord, Jephthah repeated what he had said to the elders.

Jephthah was sacked from home because he was a son of a prostitute and was stripped of his inheritance as well.  Even as an outcast had great leadership potential and attracted followers and became the gang leader. Judges 11:3 So Jephthah fled from his brothers and lived in the land of Tob. Soon he had a band of worthless rebels following him. Jephthah negatively used his leadership potential till the people of Israel needed a warrior who would fight the Ammonites.

The leaders had no choice but to go to Jephthah the one they despised to lead them in battle. God in his infinite wisdom love to draw such people into His kingdom and for His assignment. Just like Saul of Tarsus the great persecutor of the church became Apostle Paul the great promoter of the church. Everyone deserves to be given an opportunity in life. One opportunity that is available for us is the gift of salvation. Beyond that God takes the pain and look out for people using their gift and talents in negative ways and gives them great responsibility in the Kingdom of God. This is how much God trust them.
Paul was given the responsibility of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Gentile nations.

Jephthah was given the opportunity by the same leader who rejected him to become their leader in their war against the Ammonites. Judges 11: 6-8 The elders said, “Come and be our commander! Help us fight the Ammonites!” But Jephthah said to them, “Aren’t you the ones who hated me and drove me from my father’s house? Why do you come to me now when you’re in trouble?” “Because we need you,” the elders replied. “If you lead us in battle against the Ammonites, we will make you ruler over all the people of Gilead.” Our human nature limits us, we don't go beyond what we see. The Holy Spirit will use anyone regardless  of their status or upbringing. Let's pray and seek guidance. Don't be afraid to give people with Jephthah and Paul's background opportunities, they emerge as great Kingdom assets given the opportunity.

Prayer: Holy Spirit give me discernment not to ignore any kingdom asset you bring my way. Give me every substance and wisdom I need to unleash the great potential in them in Jesus' name. Amen.
