PROPHETIC PRIVACY

1 Samuel 9:27 When they reached the edge of town, Samuel told Saul to send his servant on ahead. After the servant was gone, Samuel said, “Stay here, for I have received a special message for you from God.”

The Bible is full of prophecies. The prophetic is very relevant now as it was in the days past. What has changed over the years is how the prophecies are being delivered today. Saul was still walking with the servant who sat at the table with him but when the time came for Prophet Samuel to deliver his prophetic word to him he told the servant to excuse him. Prophetic word in the old was very private. King Hezekiah's sickness was not said to him in public, the prophecy of Nathan to David when he had a sexual affair with Uriah's wife was delivered to him privately.

We have prophecies that come to a group or the congregation that can be shared with the whole assembly but individual prophecy must be delivered to the individual. One Patriarch who made his prophetic word known to his family was Joseph and that invited hatred from his brothers. Public announcement of prophecies that do not fast track the fulfilment of it. It sometimes prolongs it because in a gathering we have the sons of God and the sons of the evil present. The devil launches a greater attack when the individual is not fervent in prayer. The individual who has received the prophecy has the responsibility of praying it into manifestation.

1 Timothy 1:18 This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare. It was King Hezekiah's prayer that caused God to send the prophet back to give a prophecy of restoration. A prophecy that is to an individual should not be made public. Giving prophecy in private does not make you less powerful it shows your understanding of the principles of the Kingdom of God.

Prayer: Holy Spirit give our prophets and the church understanding in the operation of the prophetic gift and our reaction to it in Jesus' name. Amen.
