TELL IT TO THE RICH

Psalms 49:15 But as for me, God will redeem my life. He will snatch me from the power of death.

The whole of Psalm forty-nine talks about death or the power of the grave. The writer makes some interesting statements about riches and this reality called death. This an advice from a genuine rich man to other rich men. Psalms 49:10 Those who are wise must finally die, just like the foolish and senseless, leaving all their wealth behind. Death is not limited to a category of people, the wise, foolish, and the senseless will all die.

In this Psalm, the writer reveals some truth
about riches and death. Psalms 49:6-9 They trust in their wealth and boast of great prosperity. Yet they cannot redeem themselves from death by paying a ransom to God. Redemption does not come so easily, for no one can ever pay enough
to live forever and never see the grave. King David was not a poor man; he had riches enough to leave an inheritance for his son Solomon to build the most significant temple on earth. Yet he was wise enough to know that death does not receive ransom; you can not pay to live forever. Psalms 49:11- 14 The grave is their eternal home, where they will stay forever. They may name their estates after themselves, but they leave their wealth to others. They will not last long despite their riches— they will die like the animals.
This is the fate of fools, though they will be remembered as being so wise.
Like sheep, they are led to the grave, where death will be their shepherd. In the morning the godly will rule over them. Their bodies will rot in the grave, far from their grand estates.

David takes his time to the rich all they will gain afterlife; one for all their toil, the grave will be their eternal home; secondly, their names can only last on streets, buildings, and products, etc., also after all their labour they must leave their wealth for others, again death will be their shepherd. This is the summation of gaining earthly riches and is called the fate of fools. But this is what David wants to communicate to the rich: it is possible to be rich and still have eternal life because, in his riches, he experienced eternal life. But as for me, God will redeem my life. He will snatch me from the power of death. Mr. & Mrs. Riches, God, can save you. He has done that through His Son Jesus Christ by just believing in Him and accepting Him into your life; you be counted as a truly wise person here on earth and in the life to come.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, with all my riches, I surrender and trust in your death and resurrection. I believe in you, Lord Jesus; come into my heart and dine with me that I gain you in the life to come. In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
