UNDERSTANDING A CURSE

Numbers 23:7 This was the message Balaam delivered: “Balak summoned me to come from Aram;  the king of Moab brought me from the eastern hills. ‘Come,’ he said, ‘curse Jacob for me! Come and announce Israel’s doom.’

When the people of Israel were travelling through the wilderness to the promised Land most of the nations and kings they encountered engaged them in physical battles and with God on their side they had victory over them. The king of Moab saw he could not win against Israel in war, his strategy of war against them was to curse God's people. Beloved curse is a weapon far greater in impact than any physical weapon used in wars. Curse transcends an individual to generations unborn. When your enemy can't fight and win against you, they place a curse on you.

When Adam and Eve sinned God did not fight them He placed a curse on them, till now anyone born of a man and a woman is under that curse until you encounter Jesus Christ who became a curse that we may live. In Genesis 3: 14-19 we see the effect of a curse. The serpent was cursed to walk on its belly and to eat dust forever and his life was under threat from the woman's seed. The woman's labour pains and desire for her husband and the man toiling to make ends meet all his life till he dies.

Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust, you shall return." Nothing beautiful happens around a curse, you struggle till the end of your life.  more deadly it has an eternal timeline. That was why Balak was bent on using that as his war strategy so Israel will live but never be productive. He wanted to make them living fugitives. A curse is placed on an individual but it transcends to generations. Come,’ he said, ‘curse Jacob for me! Come and announce Israel’s doom.’ Jacob is an individual, and Israel is all of his descendants.

A curse is a deadly thing don't play around. Any negativity that has outlived generations in your bloodline is a curse and you have to deal with it. The good news is that the curse has a cure. Jesus Christ is the cure to the curse. Be became a curse when He was hanged on the cross. Colossians 2:14-15 He cancelled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross. You move from the external timeline of a curse and enter into the eternal life Jesus Christ offers.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ I come to you with every curse known or unknown.
Lord Jesus Christ, I believe and hold on to the victory you gave me on the cross. Cure every curse that operates in my life with your blood and set me free. In your matchless name, I pray. Amen.
