A POWERFUL WORD

Acts 14:1 The same thing happened in Iconium. Paul and Barnabas went to the Jewish synagogue and preached with such power that a great number of both Jews and Greeks became believers.

In recent times the cliche "what a powerful word" has come to stay in Charismatic and Pentecostal gatherings. It is used by members to display their reception of the word and also to encourage the preacher. A word, speech or preaching is not powerful because the people said so. It is the results of the word in the life of individuals that proves the potency of the word. What is a powerful word? A powerful first bring people into a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

A powerful word must make an unbeliever become a believer either immediately or later by the power of the Holy Spirit and cause the believer to believe Jesus Christ more. 1 Corinthians 2:4-5 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

When politicians are giving speeches it is from human wisdom and their greatest desire is to get the people will believe in them thus putting their faith in human wisdom. But the preacher's mission in speech delivery is different we preach in the power of the Holy Spirit so that people will believe in the power of God, not your human wisdom.

1 Thessalonians 1:9 A powerful word is seen in the transformed of individuals. For they declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God. Any time you shout what a powerful word ask yourself am I allowing the word to change me? If you the preacher and someone tell you that was a powerful word ask the person what has the word changed in your life.

Prayer: Holy Spirit our words will remain human speeches until you brood over them. Holy Spirit brood over the words you put in the mouths of your servant so that many will believe in Jesus Christ and leave transformed lives in Jesus' name. Amen!
