GOOD DEED IS NOT ENOUGH

Acts 10:4 Cornelius stared at him in terror. “What is it, sir?” he asked the angel. And the angel replied, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by God as an offering!

The good deeds of Cornelius a man persistent in giving and prayer opened an avenue of divine visitation from the angel of the Lord for him. The message from the angel was that God had received his generosity towards the poor and his prayers. Beloved don't give up in praying and doing good, God receives them and will remember you because of that sooner or later. Cornelius had been giving to the poor and praying to God yet he lacked something. He and his household had not believed in Jesus Christ and had not received the Holy Spirit yet.

His prayers and alms to the people have been received by God yet his soul has not been saved. Beloved you can pray and give all of yourself to humanity and still miss out on God and eternity. You will enjoy the blessings that come with giving and prayer but without Jesus Christ in the picture, your good deeds are cos ninety. Acts 10:34-35 Then Peter opened his mouth and said: "In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him. Every good person needs to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The assignment of the angel to Cornelius was for him to send for Peter to come and preach to them for the salvation of his soul. The first good thing any human can receive is the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ. Cornelius was a good man with a lot of good deeds but had not received the good news. Good deeds catch the attention of God but He uses that to point you to His greatest desire which is to believe in His son Jesus Christ. There are a lot of good people in the world today who have not heard and believed in the good news. Others have heard but have not believed.

The good man Cornelius and his household believed in the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ; they were saved and filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. Acts 10:44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. Your good deed is not enough to get you saved. It is only through believing in the Lord Jesus Christ that one can be saved not through good deeds. Acts 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." In your good deeds believe and accept the good news of Christ Jesus that it may be well with you here on earth and in eternity.
