JESUS PREPARATORY SCHOOL
Acts 4:13 The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.
Interestingly Jesus Christ has a preparatory school. His standard of admission is not as high as Harvard, Oxford, Standford and the like. The admission criteria of Jesus' preparatory school was observed and confirmed by renowned people in the Jewish society. It was members of the council consisting of all the rulers, elders and teachers of religious law, Annas the high priest along with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and other relatives of the high priest.
They observed that in Jesus' school, ordinary men were admitted. Secondly, some of them were unschooled. In this instance, they were dealing with the unschooled Peter and John yet they were amazed by their performance. The first sign you notice about students of Jesus preparatory school is that they are bold and this boldness comes from the Holy Spirit. Acts 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of our people. Secondly, they are knowledgeable in the Word not only in the teachings of Jesus Christ but also in the teachings of the old testament and all other aspects of life.
From the depth of knowledge displayed by Peter and John before the council, they could only attribute and trace their level of wisdom to Jesus Christ. The teachers of the law by their observation and in their submission were admitting that Jesus Christ has great knowledge which can transform ordinary men thus authenticating the validity of teachings and ministry. You can't study God's word and be foolish. 2 Timothy 3:15 You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.
If the display of wisdom and knowledge of two unschooled disciples blew the council off, what will the insight of the schooled ones do to them? No wonder they could not stand Saul of Tarsaus - Paul a student of Gamalia. It is not surprising at all that he wrote two- third of the new testament. His educational insight plus the inspirational knowledge of the Holy Spirit gave him exponential knowledge to write addressing all aspects of the Christian faith. Beloved admission is always in progress at Jesus preparatory school for the schooled and unschooled. Grade A is assured for all who attended and apply themselves to the study of God's word.
Prayer: Holy Spirit my teacher in Jesus' preparatory school. As I have come to school, teach me all I need to know for life and godliness in Jesus' name. Amen.
