WHAT IS YOUR HEART DESIRE?

Isaiah 26:8 - 9 Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts. My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.

The Bible says guard your heart for out of it comes the issue of life. The state of your heart determines how to act. Everyone has a heart desire. What is yours? The chosen of the Lord had this to say in Isaiah 26. They chose to walk in the ways of the Lord, that was their heart's desire. Pleasing the Lord. Some of us love to please people and to be accepted by people more than to please God and be accepted by Him. To such people Jesus Christ answered them in Mark 8:38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” How you treat God and things now will be replicated to you in eternity. If you honoured Him here on earth, He will honour you in eternity.

Desiring God is not a nine-day wonder is a lifestyle that happens throughout the lifetime of an individual. My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. Psalms 42:1-2 As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?  Acts 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.  Those whose heart desire is God always yearn for Him, they always walk in ways, and they are constantly about the Father's business. They are not at ease concerning the things of the kingdom of God. Jesus sums it up beautifully, where your treasure is there your heart will be.
Treasures don't just show, we invest to get treasures. If Jesus Christ is your heart's desire you will invest in Him your time, energy, skills, resources, finances etc. Those whose heart desire is God has eternity in mind. They are looking forward to seeing Jesus Christ. David said When shall I come and appear before God? How to act, where you invest and your hope for eternity is a true reflection of what your heart desires.

Prayer: Holy Spirit raid my heart of selfish desires and ambition and give me a heart that thirsts and hunger continually for God and His ways in Jesus' name. Amen.
