THE SPECTACULAR COMING

Isaiah 40:10-11 Yes, the Sovereign Lord is coming in all his glorious power. He will rule with awesome strength. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes. He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.

The first time God visited the earth, He came as a lamb of lowly birth. That was the bane of most people at His time. They did not expect the King of kings who is to redeem humanity to be of lowly birth. All the odds were against Him, conceived under strange circumstances, born in a manger and coming from Nazareth the small village that produces no good thing. Perhaps history had gotten into their heads so much that they were expecting the King from David's root to deliver them like Moses did, performing great signs and wonders. But they had forgotten the circumstances surrounding David's kingship. He looked unqualified even in the eyes of the prophet Samuel yet God chose him, and so was Jesus Christ a descendant from the line of David. There was nothing extraordinary, spectacular, or dramatic about the first coming, nothing to impress the masses. But in His ordinary birth and life on earth, He offered salvation to many who believed in Him. He is still offering salvation to all who will believe the gospel preached to them.

He is coming again and He will come just as the people of old and the present generation desire. His coming will be powerful, with a lot of extraordinary events, spectacular sights and wonders in the heavens and on earth. People will be amazed at what they will be seeing and they will want to see more. Matthew 24:30-31 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. The unfortunate thing is that this amazing appearance is not to bring salvation but judgment. As people look up in the skies with bewilderment and amazement, the dead in Lord and the living saints will be raptured. All that will be left when the saints are gone is cries and the judgement of God on those who refused to accept His gift of salvation. The stance you take at His first appearance will determine your state at His second coming. Make the wise decision of following Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ I come to you today to fully accept the salvation that comes by grace through my faith in You. I believe in your death and resurrection; thank you for offering me the opportunity to be raptured with your saints at your second coming. Amen
