DOING THE PRAYER THING

Isaiah 37:15-17 And Hezekiah prayed this prayer before the Lord: "O Lord Almighty, God of Israel, you are enthroned between the mighty cherubim! You alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth. You alone created the heavens and the earth.
Listen to me, O Lord, and hear! Open your eyes, O Lord, and see! Listen to Sennacherib's words of defiance against the living God.

Everyone has someone or something they pray before or pray to. Some pray before objects, elements of nature and things made by human hands. But King Hezekiah was praying before Lord: The Lord Almighty of Israel. Hear O beloved the only God you must go before in prayers is the Lord Almighty; the creator of the Heavens and the earth. Exodus 20:3-5“You shall have no other gods before Me.“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. Who and what are you praying to? If is not to the Lord Almighty then you are in error. Even though king Hezekiah was under great pressure and fear from the threat from the Assyrian king when he went before the Lord in prayer he started with praise, worship and adoration. No matter how urgent your prayer may be, the button that starts prayer is thanksgiving, praise, worship and adoration. Matthew 6:9 "This, then, is how you should pray: "’ Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
Psalms 100:4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

In the days of king Hezekiah, the prophet Isaiah was the reigning prophet at the time but when the nation was threatened Hezekiah did not go straight to call on the prophet, he called on God first. Beloved when God send a prophet, or even an angel to you, they come in response to your prayers. Apostle Peter was sent to Cornelius it was in honour of his constant prayers. Acts 10:4-5 And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord?” So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God. Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter. Luke 1:13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. Beloved prayer is something you must do for yourself. No one can pray better for you than yourself. Sometimes others will intercede here and there but you must be responsible for your prayer life. If you believe prayer is daily communication with your heavenly father to receive instructions from him and to wait on Him for your daily supplies why would you want someone to do it for you? How often do you allow someone to talk to your earthly father about your needs, it rarely happens. Pray and God will answer your prayers and send His servants to confirm His word to you.

Prayer: Holy Spirit I do not know who to pray as I ought to. Teach me to pray according to the will of God and answer me speedily as I call on you in Jesus' name. Amen.
