STONE SUCH WOMEN

John 8:3-5 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?”

As Jesus went about His day-to-day activity of teaching the crowd in the temple, a very sanctimonious atmosphere there came before Him a mob with a woman caught in adultery. Adultery is an act committed by two people a man and a woman but where is the man? Why did they bring the woman alone to Jesus? It is the nature of humans to be severe on women when it comes to the issues of morality. In Genesis, a man called Judah who slept with a harlot who was his daughter-in-law days ago got angry and was ready to burn his daughter-in-law alive for getting pregnant. What level of self-righteousness? Genesis 38:24-26  About three months later Judah was told, "Your daughter-in-law Tamar is guilty of prostitution, and as a result, she is now pregnant." Judah said, "Bring her out and have her burned to death!"

As she was being brought out, she sent a message to her father-in-law. "I am pregnant by the man who owns these," she said. And she added, "See if you recognize whose seal and cord and staff these are." Judah recognized them and said, "She is more righteous than I since I wouldn’t give her to my son Shelah." And he did not sleep with her again. The woman who is caught in adultery, or fornication, whose sex video comes out will always be faced with stones and ready to be burnt by her fellow women and the opposite gender. The same men who will pressure you, lure you and are willing to give you expensive gifts just for you to have sex with them become very indifferent about the outcome. We hardly hear women threatening men with sex tapes. A woman's purity is her price and pride and it should be our priority therefore a woman should not compromise on her purity. The enemy is after our purity. The seed of the woman will bruise the head of the serpent.

Before Jesus Christ came on the scene society had a way of treating issues regarding women's immorality. The text quoted by the mob when they brought the woman caught in adultery was altered. The original is found in Leviticus 20:10" If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife —with the wife of his neighbour —both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death. I assume Jesus wrote the original law with  His hand in the sand just Moses wrote it on the tablet and saw that the portion that showed men were equally guilty was omitted.

Then He spoke: John 8:7-8 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. To Jesus Christ both a man and a woman should carry equal guilt and shame when it comes to issues of immortality, whether for fornication or adultery both are equally guilty and deserve the same chastisement and punishment if there be any. The self-righteous men unlike Judah moved away instead of humbling themselves to receive mercy and most of them are still moving away from the guilt of their sexual immortality today justifying it with philosophies and traditions.

But the woman stayed with Jesus Christ. Daughter when your purity and sanity are tempered whether intentionally or unintentionally your best bet is to stay alone with Jesus Christ. John 8:9-11 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said.“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”They can talk about you but they can't condemn you because they are equally guilty.

The icing on the cake is this; Jesus the Perfect and True God does not condemn you either but He gives you an instruction Go and leave that sinful life. The next verse teaches how a person can leave his or her sinful life. John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." Daughter caught in immortality follow Jesus Christ and it shall be well with you.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ heal every woman who is in pain because of sexual immortality. Have mercy on them. Holy Spirit convict men when they fall into immortality that they may repent and come to you in Jesus' name. Amen.
