COMMITMENT TO ONE ANOTHER

1Samuel 19:4-5 Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father and said to him, "Let not the king do wrong to his servant David; he has not wronged you, and what he has done has benefited you greatly.

He took his life in his hands when he killed the Philistine. The LORD won a great victory for all Israel, and you saw it and were glad. Why then would you do wrong to an innocent man like David by killing him for no reason?"

We are in a generation where people with good reputations who have laid down their lives and fought for the good of society and humanity are defamed by society and evil men for no reason or the simple reason of jealousy and envy. What wrong did David commit against Saul? The only wrong we remember he did was to come to the aid of King Saul to deliver him and the armies of Israel from Goliath. Gallant men and women attract enemies for doing good. Some people cannot celebrate the success of others. What spiked Saul's anger was the song the women sang about David.
1 Samuel 18:7-9 As they danced, they sang: "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands." Saul was very angry; this refrain displeased him greatly. "They have credited David with tens of thousands," he thought, "but me with only thousands. What more can he get but the kingdom?" And from that time on Saul kept a close eye on David.
People are eyeing you because of your good works and there are others also eyeing others for their good works. Jonathan is one of a kind, when he found out that his father, King Saul wanted to kill David he confronted him about why he wanted David killed. He recounted before his father the numerous victories David won for the armies of Isreal and told him it was wrong to kill an innocent person. We live in a day and age where good people cannot be defended. We fear the stigma that comes with that so we allow evil strive. Hey, evil is not powerful, evil becomes powerful when we fail to speak about good things and people. The bible says in Matthew 5:10-12 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way, they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Great is your reward when you are insulted and persecuted for doing good. Don't join the masses to destroy people who have laboured for the course of the gospel and humanity at large. Selah

Prayer: Holy Spirit give me the boldness to speak and defend the truth about people who have laboured for the kingdom and humanity in Jesus' name. Amen.
