A TRAGIC END

1Samuel 31:9 They cut off his head and stripped off his armor, and they sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines to proclaim the news in the temple of their idols and among their people.

What a wasted life. Saul a man full of glory and grace. The Lord's anointed. The one whom the whole of Israel pursued, the most handsome in his time. 1 Samuel 9:2&20 Kish had a son named Saul, as handsome a young man as could be found anywhere in Israel, and he was ahead taller than anyone else. As for the donkeys you lost three days ago, do not worry about them; they have been found. And to whom is all the desire of Israel turned, if not to you and your whole family line?"
He started very well, but how did he get to this sad ending. Ecclesiastes 7:8 The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride. What happened to Saul, how did he end his so abysmally. The problem of Saul was pride. When he got to be a king who forgot about his God. Before then he was very humble see his response when Samuel said he was Israel's desire. 1Samuel 9:21 Saul answered, "But am I not a Benjamite, from the smallest tribe of Israel, and is not my clan the least of all the clans of the tribe of Benjamin? Why do you say such a thing to me?" Pride destroyed Saul. He never pleaded for mercy before God whenever he did wrong. Samuel was the one pleading before God on his behalf. The highest form of pride is when you cannot admit your errors before God and ask for His mercy and forgiveness. God outrightly rejects all who do this. 1John 1:8-10 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us. Admit your fault before God, repent ask for mercy, and be forgiven.

Prayer: Lord I admit my sins and guilty of your judgment. But today I appeal through the blood of Jesus Christ that you have mercy on me and forgive all my errors and restore me unto yourself. Do let go of my Lord and my king. Amen.
