HIS PRESENCE CAN'T STAND SIN

1 Samuel 4:2-3 The Philistines deployed their forces to meet Israel, and as the battle spread, Israel was defeated by the Philistines, who killed about four thousand of them on the battlefield. When the soldiers returned to camp, the elders of Israel asked, "Why did the LORD bring defeat on us today before the Philistines? Let us bring the ark of the LORD’s covenant from Shiloh, so that he may go with us and save us from the hand of our enemies."

The people of Israel thought they could buy victory with God's presence while they continued in sin. In this particular battle, the Lord was avenging Israel for the sin of Eli's household. Though they brought the ark of God's covenant they were defeated again and the ark was captured by their enemies. The sins of the house of Eli brought this great defeat upon the people of God. Running into his presence without repentance does move God to act on our behalf. To see God's hand and victory we must genuinely repent from our wicked ways. Calling for his presence in the midst of our sins only brings his judgment upon us.  2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. To see God's intervention we must turn away from our sins.

Prayer: Lord Jesus raise we can't come into your presence with our sins. Lord as we repent of our wicked ways hear our cry and give us the victory in Jesus' name. Amen.
