GIVING

Ezra 2:69 According to their ability they gave to the treasury for this work 61,000 darics of gold, 5,000 minas of silver, and 100 priestly garments.

Giving with understanding attracts a blessing from the Lord but giving out of compulsion and grievance displeases the Lord and one can be cursed because of that. Giving has to be done according to one's ability. There are others who by revelation and for a reason of entering certain covenant with the Lord goes beyond their ability. What are we to give to the Lord? The first and topmost giving the Lord requires from us is ourselves. Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. The old testament rendition of this verse is Deuteronomy 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 

This is the first reasonable giving, if you change the order you are being unreasonable. If you give money, serve and give out items and you fail in this one, your giving may yield you early gains but heavenly loss. Giving is also not limited to money only. Those who have the ability to give money must give money, those you can serve must serve with their giftings and skills, and those who can give items are free to do so. Giving is according to our ability if you don't do it well with understanding your labor will be in vain just like Cain and Ananias and Sapphira. Philippians 2:13-16 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Do everything without grumbling or arguing,so that you may become blameless and pure, "children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation." Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.

Prayer: Father from today I give myself as the topmost offering. May I excel in other areas of giving as well in Jesus mighty name Amen
