THE OPPONENTS OF JESUS CHRIST

John 7:32 The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning Him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him.

In life, everyone has an opponent. We have spiritual opponents and we have physical opponents. In the spirit realm, the opponent of Jesus Christ is the devil, He is God's enemy and the enemy of all believers. Matthew 4:5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple.1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Apart from the spiritual opponent of Jesus Christ the devil, he had physical ones who were the Pharisees, chief priests and Sadducees ( teachers of the religious law). Physical opponents challenge you based on knowledge, experience and skills to showcase their superiority. Lawyers challenge each other in courtrooms, footballers battle it out on the field and students challenge each other in quizzes and competitions, in the end, the best wins.

Jesus Christ came with new knowledge and revelations that the teachers of the religious law could not accept and stand at all. The sinners, diseased, broken, women and the majority of the people liked Jesus Christ except for the Pharisees and Saducees, they did not like him at all; they did not like what he ate, wore, his friends, miracles, and His teachings.

They hated Him to the point of death, after His resurrection and even now some still hate Him. Why? He possessed the kind of knowledge and power they could not stand which is the truth. Today the opponents of Jesus still abound. People still oppose the gospel calling it trash but the truth remains no one can kick against Jesus Christ and win.

Prayer: Jesus Christ have mercy on me in any area I have opposed you. Holy Spirit help me to understand God's word and to obey it fully in Jesus' name.  Amen.
