THE HEART OF A TRUE LEADER

Numbers 11:28 - 29 Joshua son of Nun, who had been Moses’ assistant since his youth, protested, “Moses, my master, make them stop!” But Moses replied, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the lord’s people were prophets and that the lord would put his Spirit upon them all!”

Numbers 11:27 And a young man ran and told Moses, and said, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp." These two men Eldad and Medad remained in their tents when Moses called the seventy leaders who were going to assist him with his work to present before the Lord for impartation yet as they stayed in their camp they received their share of the gift and began to prophesy. But Joshua asked Moses to make them stop. The answer of Moses shows the heart of a true leader.

A true leader is never against the progress of his or her followers, He or she is not intimidated by it at all rather they desire that their followers will develop and even become better than them because they know when the people develop in their walk with God and knowledge their work become easier. Your legacy as a leader won't outlive you if you don't develop others. Moses had an assistant Joshua but Joshua never had an assistant and Elijah had an assistant Elisah but Elisah never had an assistant.

These two men assisted two great leaders but never followed their examples of pouring out their knowledge and grace into others. Their ministry and impact died at their death with no one to carry on their legacy. Jesus also had a similar situation where His disciples were not happy that someone who was not in their sect was using His name to cast out demons. Now John answered and said, Luke 9:49-50 "Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us."

But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us  is on our  side." A true leader's joy is to see others rise on their wings. Jesus' ministry leaves on forever and the Jews still cling on to the ministry of Moses because these two leaders raised people who carried on their legacy. Moses raised one leader and his influence remained in Israel, Jesus Christ raised twelve leaders and His ministry has affected the whole world. Do you have the heart of a true leader then rise to do what Moses and Jesus Christ did.

Prayer: Father I thank you for the call to lead. Holy Spirit lead me to available vessels who I can pour myself into so your will advance in Jesus' name. Amen.
