THE EFFECT OF A BAD REPORT

Numbers 14:1 Then the whole community began weeping aloud, and they cried all night.

Yesterday we discussed from Numbers thirteen how Caleb stayed positive when the other ten spies gave a negative report. Today we are looking at the consequences of the action of the ten doubtful spies. Numbers fourteen begins on a note of weeping and cries all night.  Your unbelief does not affect you only, you pass it on to others. Negative energy is transferable. The chapter would have had a beautiful beginning but for the bad report of these ten spies.

You can ruin someone's start-up, kill someone's zeal, mess up a beautiful relationship, cause people to give up on their dreams with your bad report  and above all you can play the devil's advocate by letting others lose their precious faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The people of Isreal wanted to turn back to Egypt after they heard the bad report, they almost gave up on the dream of entering the promised land. Numbers 14:4 Then they plotted among themselves, “Let’s choose a new leader and go back to Egypt!”

Quit planting the seeds of doubt, talking others out of their dreams and the promises of God because of your fear and experiences they are not you. If you can't use your fears and failures to empower others then shut up. When Moses and Elijah appeared on the mount of transfiguration, they were not there to talk Jesus into quitting. They came to empower Him and urge Him on. The disciples enjoyed the encounter so much that they desired to stay there forever. Beloved be careful not to give up on the promises of God because of negative reports.

Discern by the Spirit of God to know when someone is playing the devil's advocate and mute that voice. The devil tried using Peter to talk Jesus Christ out of His purpose of dying on the cross.
Matthew 16:22-23 But Peter took him aside and began to reprimand him for saying such things. “Heaven forbid, Lord,” he said. “This will never happen to you!” Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.” The answer of Jesus gives a clue on how to detect the counsel of God and that of the devil. Satanic reports only consider things from the human point of view but the report of the Lord speaks from God's point of view. Whose report would you believe?

Prayer: Father in Jesus' name I refuse any report of the devil and his attempt to talk me out of God's promises.  Holy Spirit give me the Spirit of discernment to detect and eject out negative reports from my system in Jesus' name. Amen.
