THE TRUE FINISHING LINE

Philippians 1:6 And I am sure that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on that day when Christ Jesus comes back again.

We all have finishing lines in mind and want to finish well. Our finishing lines are sometimes determined by targets we have given ourselves or even what others have given us.

God has begun something good in you and he expects you to be productive.
Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." What God is doing with your life is not your work but His work and therefore He determines the finishing line. The finish line for God's business is when Jesus Christ comes back. Until then we must keep doing the masters business.
Your assignment does not end even when you die the finishing line for every good work God is doing in your life must end only when Christ Jesus comes back.

How would you ensure that your assignment outlives you?  Paul taught his son Timothy how to continue this good work. 2 Timothy 2:2 And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. Whatever God-given assignment you find yourself doing in the family, church, community, workplace, or nation, you must raise people to continue that work and you have to be intentional about it. As a children's teacher, writer, singer, preacher, intercessor, usher, inventor, C. E. O, etc. We will fail if our work ends at our death. Jesus Christ lived died and has ascended into glory yet His work lives on that is good work. Your songs, ideas, and passion should not die with you, it must tarry until the day of the Lord.  Your good works should not end with you, it should end at the appearance of Jesus Christ. John 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit —fruit that will last —and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me run the race and raise others who will continue in that good work until you come in Jesus' name. Amen.
