LOOK FROM THE INSIDE

Zechariah 2:4 and said to him: "Run, tell that young man, ’Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it.

Humans by nature judge people by the outward. It is our innate flaw. 1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Zachariah chapter two begins with a man holding a measuring line in his hand ready to measure Jerusalem. If a man can dare measure a whole city, how much more an individual? That is humans for you, we want to know each other's externals before we have any form of dealings with one another. This innate attribute of man has caused most of us to miss out on potentials, places, situations and people who would have been a blessing to us and have rather fallen into the hands of crooks and criminals. Israel would have missed out on a great personality and the great leadership of David but the divine intervention of God. If God admits that man judges outward, how can we rise beyond looking at ourselves and making based on the external?

The first way God helps man from this flaw in us is by divine intervention. God intervened when the prophet Samuel wanted to anoint a king of Israel by the externals and He also intervened when the man was trying to measure Jerusalem. Zechariah 2:3-4 While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him and said to him: "Run, tell that young man, ’Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it. May the angels of God and the voice of God speak to you anytime you are on your way to look at the external. God has given us our number one help which is the Holy Spirit to help us discern and make decisions. Anytime you are at the crossroads to make any decision, don't look outward look upward and seek the wisdom of God about your choice. The outward is full of deception. What inside makes a person?

Prayer: Father intervene for me any time am about to make decisions by the outward. Holy Spirit speak to me that I may not err in Jesus' name. Amen.
