STARTING AND FINISHING WELL

Zechariah 4:9 "The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you.

Everyone starts with finishing or end in mind but not all see the finishing or the end. Events after commencing sometimes prevent people from ending well. This is why the God factor is key in anything you want to finish because His first name is Alpha and His surname is Omega. To start and to finish is God.

Zachariah four begins with imagery of a golden Lampstand, seven candles, and some pipes connecting two olive trees to the candles. All these images were present because of a man called Zerubbabel. God had an assignment for this man and this assignment starts with the Spirit of God. Zechariah 4:6 So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ’Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty. If Jesus Christ the beloved Son of God started by the Spirit, what makes you think you can start without the Holy Spirit? In launching anything the first thing you need is the Spirit of God, that was the first announcement from God to Zerubbabel. We have the tendency to think we are good to start because of our qualifications, start-up capital, skills, knowledge and some connections at our disposal but until the Spirit of God starts with you, you are going nowhere.

Throughout the Bible, we have just two people using the word finish in the course of their lives. Jesus Christ and Paul the Apostle. Even with Paul, had a clause attached to it, he had finished yet he is waiting for a crown that is to be given to Him. Jesus Christ is the only one who is dying at thirty-three yet He could scream it is finished. What confirms and affirms the call of God and your life assignment is how you finish. We have an example of a personality who finished; Jesus Christ. Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For you to start and finish well Jesus Christ is your best example. Everything you start comes with some level of shame. Instead of you allowing the shame to despise you, you rather despise the shame and press on. No wonder Paul finished because he was an imitator of Christ Jesus. You start and finish well by the Spirit and looking unto Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Holy Spirit start with me! Holy Spirit launch me and lead me. Jesus Christ, I look you; following your examples, let available unto me from the beginning to the end in Jesus' name. Amen.
