THE PURIFYING FOUNTAIN

Zechariah 13:1 "On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.

A fountain is a natural or artificial source of water flow. From David's line, we are privileged to have a kind that does not serve as a source of water but gives eternal life.

Water gives life to plants, serves as a source of drinking water for humans, and animals, and is used for domestic and industrial purposes. The human body has about sixty percent water. Of all the uses of water you know, cleansing sin and impurifying is not part. So if the bible says a fountain is flowing from David's house, He talking about Jesus Christ. David's bloodline is a lineage that produces kings. Isaiah 11:1-3 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears. You have to understand the kingship of Christ Jesus.

From Jesus Christ will come a fountain not flowing of water but the blood. A fountain is always a great sight to behold. So on that faithful day, as Jesus Christ was hanged on the cross, all people looking at him, the Apostle John records in John 19:34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water. This is the fountain the prophet Zechariah spoke about. It is a fountain that flows with blood. It is the precious blood of Jesus Christ. It is flowing to cleanse sin and impurity. Is the blood of Jesus Christ that has the power to cleanse sin and to give eternal life. Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power? Are you washed in the blood of the lamb?

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, once again I come to the fountain of your blood, let your blood purge and cleanse that I may gain eternal life. Amen.
