WORK ETHICS
1Timothy 6:1-2 Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them.
Today's text is on how we must conduct ourselves as believers when working for Christians and non-Christians. Paul told Timothy to teach these truth and encourage everyone to obey them.
If you are a believer working for an unbeliever, there is a greater responsibility on you. You are there to protect the integrity of God's name and His teaching. How you conduct yourself at work by the time you report, how you go about your job description, and your submission to your employer can bring shame or glory to God's name and His teaching. The teaching of God about work is that respect your employers, the hand the works not should not eat therefore if you go to work, work hard. You shall not steal; stop stealing from your employer believer; this is what the Bible teaches. 1 Corinthians 15:10 But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me—and not without results. For I have worked harder than all the other apostles, yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace.
Some believers have stopped announcing job opportunities and stopped employing church members, and some believers because they hide behind Christian sisters and brothers only to lazy about at work. Dear believer, your fellow Christian who has hired you is your boss, and you must not take advantage of the relationship. Yours is to work all the harder to help them fulfill the dominion mandate and to champion the course of kingdom advancement. Don't be a contributing factor to the downfall of a business established by a fellow believer. Instead, help build it up. Remember the words of Jesus Christ in Luke 16:12 And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own?
Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask for mercy about the shame I have brought to your name by my negative working ethic; I repent and ask for forgiveness. Holy Spirit, help, let grace abound to me to work harder to God's glory and his name. Amen.
