RELATIONSHIPS

1Timothy 5:1-2 Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.

Life is all about relationships. We were first created to have a relationship with God and to share this relationship with others. Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus replied, " 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.'This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
The Bible did not leave any stone unturned.  The Bible directs us on how to relate to older adults. Elders also make mistakes, but in their errors, we must not rebuke them harshly; no one is beyond rebuke, but if one is an older adult, you don't do it harshly. This standard has fallen in this social media era; young people hide behind social media to insult elders old enough to be their parents. Be warned you have fallen into error if you don't treat older adults like you would your parents.
The Bible also implores us to see younger men and women as our brothers and sisters with absolute purity. How young men and women treat each other in relationships these days is an eyesore. There is no respect for each other's purity. The flaunting of nudity has become the order of the day, and people are not even ashamed about it. Will you do that to your biological sister or brother? If you can't ask your blood sister or brother for nude pictures? Any relationship that does not respect your absolute purity is an abuse. Beloved God wants us to have godly relationships with one another, and it starts with you.

Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask for mercy where I have fallen short in my relationship with others; Holy Spirit, help me to relate with others in a way that pleases the Lord and brings glory to God in Jesus' name. Amen.
