WHY THE SUFFERING?

2Timothy 1:11-12 And God chose me to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of this Good News. And that is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.

No one enjoys suffering; it is seen as inhumane, but some people have great joy in their grief. To every suffering, there is a purpose. From the scriptures, we can identify three forms of suffering, suffering for a godly course, self-inflicted suffering, and external suffering.

The first personality who faced unprecedented pains with great joy is Jesus Christ. He died the most embarrassing death, yet He did it with joy because it was for a purpose.
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Beloved, there are things to suffer to be worthy to stand at the right hand of Christ. It is okay to go hungry, forgo sexual desires, ignore bribes, be insulted for doing the right, and sometimes leaving specific jobs, positions, and the company of some friends and family to qualify to stand the right hand of Christ Jesus.

1Peter 2:20  But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. This second category is those who suffer for doing wrong. And the Bible says there is no credit in this. If you are imprisoned for stealing, lost your womb to abortion, or got involved in an accident for texting - driving and disobedience to other traffic regulations, what profit do you stand to gain. The other class of suffering comes from external happenings like natural disasters, global pandemics, enemies within and without, and the Devil. But the good thing is that just as God comforts those who suffer for godliness, God is willing to comfort you if you carry your burdens to him.  Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, I cast my burdens and suffering unto you, where is godliness, self-inflicted, or external, have mercy on me and bring me deliverance in Jesus' name. Amen.
