WHAT ARE YOU HEARING?

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

There are two groups of Christians and preachers in operation in these last days. We have preachers of God's word and preachers of people's word. We have believers who want to hear what they desire to hear, and we have those who want to hear from God. Which category do you fall into?

One way to identify believers with an itching ear is the number of teachers they gather around them. They have a great number of teachers; who present
to them the various doctrines of the faith. They have preachers they listen to regarding salvation, marriage, money, prayer, giving, relationship, healing, parenting, etc. And the reason they listen to these preachers is that they say what they want to hear, not what God wants them to hear. They love to listen to their names being mentioned, the name of their workplaces, their hometowns, and so on. They love teaching that will endorse their evil deeds. 2Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.  It is God's way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do. If what you are hearing is not doing any of the above in your life, then you just heard myths, fables, and fallacies.

In the pressure of false teachings, it would look like the truth is losing its grounds, but God has this charge for genuine preachers of the Gospel of Christ Jesus. 2Timothy 4:1-2 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge:  Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage —with great patience and careful instruction. Preachers of truth must rise and speak for the truth; if we keep quiet, falsehood will be accepted to be the truth. The only way to kick against falsity is to speak up for the truth. More than ever must go louder with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Timothy 4:5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

Prayer: Father, in Jesus' name, forgive us for keeping mute; Holy Spirit, grant us boldness that we may declare the truth of the Gospel of Christ Jesus in His name we pray. Amen.
