GOD'S PLAN FOR THE PROUD

Isaiah 23:8-9 Who planned this against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, whose merchants are princes, whose traders are renowned in the earth? The LORD Almighty planned it, to bring down her pride in all her splendor and to humble all who are renowned on the earth.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. This verse looks contradictory to our verse under study today. God plans to prosper His people and bring them to an expected end. But there are those who God plans to bring down as well. God lifts and God brings down. Hannah knew these two sides of God. 1 Samuel 2:7 The LORD sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts. God lifts those who are humble and humbles those who exalt themselves. On the earth, God is doing two things lifting and humbling. Where do you want to belong? If you want to be lifted then humble yourself before the Lord, not before men. Some of us are humble before men and proud towards God. Better to be humble before God than to be humble before men.

Prayer: Father in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ I submit and subject myself to the Holy Spirit to rid my heart of pride and make a humble servant before God. Worthy of His lifting in Jesus' name. Amen
