A MODEL FOR LEADERSHIP

Isaiah 16:5 In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it — one from the house of David — one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.

The people of Isreal rejected God's rule theocracy and wanted to have a king over them like other nations.1 Samuel 8:4-5 So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. They said to him, "You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have."
From this, we know that kingship emerged out of a selfish desire to move away from the authority of God. Kingship from then depended on appointment and by extension a position to be inherited. People without the burden of or passion for people ended up being rulers to the disadvantage of their subjects. This type of leadership was not what God intended for humanity. So God overthrew this order and brought the new order of authority through Jesus Christ. Giving us a leadership model. Leadership starts with Love and it demands a faithful person to lead and the purpose of leadership is to seek justice and to speed the cause of righteousness.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. This is the standard for leadership.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ today I ask for your grace to observe and practice your way of leadership in your holy name. Amen.
