HOW TO HOST THE LORD

Luke 10:38-39 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.

In this story, Martha was hosting Jesus Christ as a guest in her home. What an amazing privilege to host the King of
kings and the Lord of lords. Martha like any other person started putting things in place to make her host feel very comfortable. Am sure she preparing some starters, dessert, the main dish, setting up an executive table with different brands of wine, etc, but she realizes at a point in time her sister Mary was not helping with the activities going on. She felt the most important thing to do when Jesus had visited was for her and the sister to worry themselves about how to serve Jesus with food and water and to make Him feel at home. Surprisingly when she wanted Mary to help her, she did not go to Mary to ask for help but she went to Jesus to ask  Mary to help her. Jesus' answer gives us what Jesus expects of us when we are hosting Him.
Luke 10:40-42 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed —or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." What is Jesus saying, he is saying that when you host him, the focus should on Him only and nothing else.
When you decide to host Jesus Christ through prayer, the word, or fellowship with other believers the focus is Him and nothing else. He is interested in your devotion to Him not your activity without devotion.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I thank you for the privilege for me to host you daily. Holy Spirit help to stay away from distraction and to focus on Jesus Christ as I host Him. Amen.
