BREAKING THE SABBATH STATUS QUO

Luke 14:2-4 There in front of him was a man suffering from abnormal swelling of his body. Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?" But they remained silent. So taking hold of the man, he healed him and sent him on his way.

One thing Jesus continually did on the Sabbath was to heal the sick and to release people from their oppressions and infirmities but the people at His time were very indignant about this action. There is a status quo about the Sabbath which a limitation to those who choose either Sunday or Saturday to celebrate it. In Sunday services most pastors are very careful to call people up to pray for them for their healings and deliverance. Everything seems to be prem and proper on Sunday's and Saturday meeting. And it looks very awkward when church members see deliverance occurring on Sundays. The God of Friday prayer meetings for healing and deliverance is the God of Sunday services as well. About four times in Luke's account Jesus Christ healed on the Sabbath day to the surprise of the people. What surprising about this?  People fly on Sundays, work on Sundays, sign cheques on Sunday's and that is okay but healing and deliverances look awkward in Sunday services. Really?  Look at Jesus' question to the people Luke 14:5-6 Then he asked them, "If one of you has a child or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull it out?"And they had nothing to say. There is no reason why the Church has adopted Sunday as a deliverance-free and healing-free day. The Lord deliver His Church. Most often is people who are strong in the faith that comes to prayer meetings and stuff. On a Sunday where all manner of person's from all walks of life walk into Church seeking healing and deliverance, the enemy has used the traditions and human protocol to prevent people from been delivered. 2 Corinthians 2:11 In order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes. On Sunday's the enemy outwits us. Is it then surprising that the same people who come in the morning are found in clubs in the evening? We have turned Sunday services into a day of exhibiting dresses and moderating activities instead of demonstrating the power of God. God revive your church. Matthew 12:8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." The day belongs to Jesus Christ and we should allow Him to have His way with His Church!

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of the Sabbath we pray for the Leaders of the Body of Christ that their eyes of understanding will be opened to this truth about the Sabbath that they will let you have your way to heal and to deliver your children on the Sabbath in Jesus name. Amen.
