THE LOVE FOUNDATION

Luke 3:9 The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire."

The stability of every tree depends on the roots. The depths of the roots depend on how stable the tree will be. John Baptist was addressing foundational issues in his first public address to the people. A question was posed to him and this how he answered it Luke 3:10-11 "What should we do then?" the crowd asked. John answered, "Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same." This was a similar response Jesus gave to the rich guy in Matthew 19:21 Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Love is the foundation for everything we do in the kingdom. Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus replied: ’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ’Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Love is what moved God to act on behalf of humanity. You cannot be a child of God without Love.  John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ I thank you for the foundation of love. Let me grow in love so that am not cut off in Jesus' name. Amen.
