THE FATHER'S LEGACY

Luke 1:59-63 On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him after his father Zechariah, but his mother spoke up and said, "No! He is to be called John." They said to her, "There is no one among your relatives who has that name."Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment, he wrote, "His name is John."

God has a plan for every individual. Every Father has the desired legacy in which they want their children to walk in. Just God teaches us by example the greatest legacy of fathers to their children. The fact that you are a father doesn't make your plan for your children's life superior to that of God concerning their lives. Genesis 18:19 For I have chosen him so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him." Your number legacy as a father is to direct your children to walk in the will of God for their lives. The traditions of the father's demand that John the Baptist was named after his father but as a father he chooses the will of God to prevail. The greatest example of fatherhood was given by God Himself, releasing his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die for all humanity. It was not a simple task yet He did it. Your greatest love for children is demonstrated in your ability to release them into the purpose of God for their lives.

Prayer: Lord we pray for father's around the world that you give them the grace to release their children into the will of God in Jesus' name. Amen
