For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.

The tongue is a flexible muscular organ in the mouth that is used to move food around, for tasting and that is moved into various positions to modify the flow of air from the lungs in order to produce different sounds in speech. The tongue can also mean a language of a people.
When the bible says whoever would love life and to see good days means that, first and foremost you must be careful of the things you eat and drink. Is the tongue that carries them in, whether is healthy or unhealthy. If you want to live a healthy or sickness free life it mostly depends on what you consume. Check your eating and drinking habit.
The tongue is for tasting. What is your taste in life? Whether is food, money, choice of cars, spouse; the tongue which is responsible. No wonder in James 3:5 we told the tongue is a little member of the body but boasts about many things.
Finally the tongue aids in sound production. It carries the air to the lungs to produce a particular sound. When you want to use abusive, demeaning, and foul, good, kind, or sweet sounds it begins with the tongue and finally comes out through the lips. The tongue produce sound but it comes through the lips as a speech. And without a sound there can't be a speech. If you can tame your tongue them your speech will not be deceitful but always be seasoned with salt and comforting to your listeners. God bless you.
