SELF EXAMINATION VERUS CROSS-EXAMINATION

2Corinthians 13:5-6 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you —unless, of course, you fail the test?  And I trust that you will discover that we have not failed the test.

Before you write any final exams you have written series of tests, and other exams to check readiness for the final exams and to inform you of the possible outcome of your final exams based on your current results. We see remarks from our teachers like excellent keep it up, can do better, more room for improvement, you must sit up, etc. As a believer, you are waiting for your remarks from the Lord Jesus Christ. Will He say to you good and faithful servant share in the father's glory or will He call you a wicked and a slothful servant be cast out into the fire. Examining ourselves to check our status in the faith will inform us about our progress in our walk with the Lord and the likely remarks we will get from Him based on our current lifestyle. Most often we examine others forgetting ourselves. If you have not examined, tested, and worked on yourself but try to correct others; God considers that as hypocrisy. Matthew 7:4-5 How can you say to your brother, ’Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?  You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Examine yourself in the faith, the marking scheme is the word and the invigilators are the Holy Spirit and prayer. The marking scheme is before you, you have the Bible on your phone,  bedside, on your table, etc. Mark your life with the teachings of the Bible to see how you are faring. If you discover you are doing well that is excellent, keep it up but if you discover your failing there is a word of hope for you.
Revelation 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Prayer: Father you know me inside out, I checked and I believe there are areas in my life that have not pleased you, Lord have mercy on me as I  steps  to repent empower me by your Holy Spirit to live by your word in Jesus mighty name Amen.
