ROLLED AWAY

Joshua 5:9 Then the lord said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the shame of your slavery in Egypt.” So that place has been called Gilgal to this day.

Salvery is the result of sin and is a reproach to all people. When the older generation of Israel died in the wilderness, the Lord commanded Joshua to circumsise the new generation also. Circumcise takes way sin and it's reproach. All circumcisions that was done in the bible were foreshadowing of the true circumcision that will be made through Jesus Christ. Romans 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ has become a servant to the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers. After Joshua circumcised the new generation this is what God said.

Joshua 5:9 Then the lord said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the shame of your slavery in Egypt.” The essence of circumcision is to roll away the shame of your slavery in sin. The truth of our reproach being taken away is done beautifully at resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Mark 16:3-6 And they said among themselves, "Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?" But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away--for it was very large. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.

Joshua had to use knives of flint to circumcise the people for their reproach to be rolled away. The women were asking each who will roll away the stone away for us? But as they arrived at scene the great stone had been rolled away already by the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. Gigal still exists among the Jews as the place where the new generation were circumcised and their shame taken away. But now among the same people there is an Empty Tomb that gives meaning to how the shame is taken away. It is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that takes away the shame of slavery. The Empty Tomb and the rolled away stone is a proof.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ I am grateful that it was your death and resurrection that took away my shame of slavery and gave me victory. Am forever grateful. Amen.
