DECODING DECEPTION

Joshua 9:14 So the Israelites examined their food, but they did not consult the lord.

One evil that abounds and will continue to rise as the day of the Lord approaches is deception. Matthew 24:4-5 And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, `I am the Christ,` and will deceive many. It is called many-to-many matching. Many deceivers will arise to deceive many people. Except for the gospel of John, all the other three gospels recorded Jesus' warning to us about deception. Mark 13:5-6 And Jesus, answering them, began to say: "Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, `I am He,` and will deceive many. Luke 21:8  And He said: "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, `I am He,` and, `The time has drawn near.` Therefore do not go after them.

The issue of deception is not something to joke about or to be taken lightly. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Jesus Christ will not take the excuse of I was deceived or I did not know. That is why He has warned us ahead of time. "Take heed that you not be deceived. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. The people of Gibeon carved a heart-touching, passionate story with evidence that moved the heart of Joshua and the elders of Israel to believe them. Joshua 9:4-5 they resorted to deception to save themselves. They sent ambassadors to Joshua, loading their donkeys with weathered saddlebags and old, patched wineskins. They put on worn-out, patched sandals and ragged clothes. And the bread they took with them was dry and mouldy.

Beloved, deceivers have stories and evidence, they are sweet-tongued with false humility. Precious one flesh and blood cannot identify deceivers unless it is revealed to you by God. Joshua 9:14 So the Israelites examined their food, but they did not consult the lord. This was the error of Joshua and the leaders of Israel. They did not ask God about the people of Gibeon, they looked at the outward and believed them. Beloved pray about everything and every situation, even the church to attend using the bible as your guide. Ask God about strangers who ask you for help, men and women of God you listen to etc. before you act. Joshua 9:15-16 Then Joshua made a peace treaty with them and guaranteed their safety, and the leaders of the community ratified their agreement with a binding oath. Three days after making the treaty, they learned that these people lived nearby! In the face of sweet stories and evidence to decode deception, you must ask the Lord.

Prayer: Holy Spirit help and give me discernment to decode deception and to stay in the will of God in Jesus' name. Amen.
