A PRISONER OF HOPE

Acts 27:23-25, "For last night, an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me, and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’ So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said."

Is it, not a paradox when the prisoner becomes the comfort giver? Apostle Paul, in his quest to appear before Caesar in defence of his faith, was a prisoner among free men, captains and armed soldiers who had been charged to take him before Caesar. Events at sea proved among those on board what it truly meant to be free and a prisoner. A raging storm hit the ship such that all cargoes on board had to be offloaded.

Acts 27:18. The next day, as gale-force winds continued to batter the ship, the crew began throwing the cargo overboard. The situation grew so bad that the captains and armed soldiers on board grew weary without hope. Then came in the prisoner of Jesus Christ --in chains yet hopeful! Why? Because God was with him. If the Son of man makes you free, you are free indeed. The highest form of freedom is the freedom in Christ Jesus. You can be in physical bondage, financial challenges, health issues etc., and yet be more powerful than the most influential personality who has not encountered Jesus Christ.

Acts 27:23-25, "For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me, and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’ So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said."
The God in you is more powerful than any circumstance or situation you may be going through. Christ in you is the hope of glory; whatever He has said concerning your life will come to pass, for we believe God.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ through it all be with us. Let your presence and your word come to us in our difficult times to strengthen and make us hopeful in Jesus' name.  Amen.
