WHAT ARE DEAD WORKS?

Hebrews 9:13-14 The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

Once again the ministry of the old is compared with that of Jesus Christ. The blood of goats and heifer were good enough to cleanse people of their errors. How much more, will the blood of Christ Jesus do for us. The sacrifice of goats and bulls were for outer purification but the sacrifice of the blood of Jesus works internally and externally. It cleanses our conscience from actions that are not in line with God's word and in tune with the Holy Spirit. Acts that lead to death in this context is not about drinking poison or committing suicide. Acts that lead to death are the things that prevent you from serving the Living God. If there is anything in your life that impedes your service to God, that thing is leading you to death and by death, we mean eternal death, living without Jesus Christ here on earth and in the life to come. What is leading you to death? Is it your job, money, relationship, family, character, phone or social media, and so on? Whatever it is the blood of Jesus Christ can purge your conscience (The moral sense of right and wrong, chiefly as it affects one's own behaviour). What is right or wrong is not based on human rights, cultural heritage, family values, popular opinion, or socially accepted norms the standard for determining wrong and right is God's word.
And today if any of these has wrongly affected your behaviour the blood of Jesus Christ is here to set you free so you can worship God. 

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I plunge in your blood that the cleansing power over my conscience. Let the blood wipe away any behaviour and doctrine that is not in line with your word that prevents my service to the living God in your Holy Name. Amen
