THE COMMON TEMPTATIONS

1Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

The common temptations we all face are found in 1John 2:16 For everything in the world the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life comes not from the Father but from the world.
Great personalities from Bible to world history have had their fair share of this common temptation and you will face yours as well. Some heeded to warnings and escaped, others fell and repented and there are others who got destroyed in the process. How you come out is your own responsibility. God is faithful so much that your temptation cannot go beyond what you can bear. He used His Son Jesus as an example, He went through the three levels of temptations. His body lusted for food but He rejected the devil's food, His was dared to prove Himself as the son to throw himself down to be caught up angels but He escaped that one too and finally when His eyes saw riches of the world He chose the way of the Lord. As a single person living a chaste life is not something unbearable, as a couple keeping your fidelity is not unbearable, as a worker the challenges of keeping your integrity is not unbearable. As a matter of fact, what is unbearable is when you are caught in the act of adultery when you get diseases from promiscuous sexual relationships when you are being fired in the work because of corrupt practices. God has given us the way out in his word and He daily advises us through people listen and save yourself the embarrassment. If you don't you may end up like Judas Iscariot hanging yourself.
James 1:13-15 And remember, no one who wants to do wrong should ever say, "God is tempting me." God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else either. Temptation comes from the lure of our own evil desires. These evil desires lead to evil actions, and evil actions lead to death.

Prayer: Father I pray for the wisdom to carry myself well in this evil world. Holy Spirit quicken me to flee from any evil that will disqualify me for eternity in Jesus mighty name Amen.
