WHAT IS CHRIST'S WORTH TO YOU?

Philippians 3:8-9What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ —the righteousness that comes from God based on faith.

The value of a person or a thing in your life is determined by the sacrifices you are willing to make because of that person or thing. The value of a soul to God was worth the sacrifice of His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. That is the worth God placed on a sinful man.

Anyone who encountered God and the Son of God had to sacrifice something to follow them. Abraham sacrificed his family and followed God. All the twelve apostles left all they had and were doing to follow Jesus Christ. Today Paul the apostle of Christ in his letter to the Philippian church is touching on some things he had to rubbish because he encountered Jesus Christ. He gave up his negative religious zeal and his in-depth knowledge of Jewish law because of the surpassing knowledge of knowing God. Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. This is Jesus Christ telling us what it costs to follow him. The sacrifice you pay to show the worth of Christ Jesus is personal. So in Paul's letter, he said I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus.

The simple message of the gospel is that I was once a sinner living in sin I have encountered the living saviour who has changed my life therefore I have quit my old ways of living to live a victorious life in Christ Jesus. If after all that Christ has done for you, you cannot give up your old ways of living, to live a transformed life in Jesus Christ then your encounter with the King is suspicious. You have to lose some friends, music, events, lifestyles, movies, websites, social media groups, mindsets, habits, and choices because of the surpassing knowledge of knowing Christ Jesus. Until you are willing to give up some of these things you are holding on to, you cannot gain Christ. You won't make gains in your walk with Jesus Christ. You are in a better position to make the sacrifice of gaining Christ. He is not asking for your life, He asking that you give up self-destructive ways. The worth of Christ to you is determined by the sacrifices you are willing to make for Him.

Prayer: Holy Spirit in my life am yet to give up my old ways. Am still holding on to things. Blood of Jesus cleanse me once more. Holy Spirit help my mind, soul and body so that I may fully gain Christ in Jesus' name. Amen.
