FOLLOWING

Isaiah 8:11 This is what the LORD says to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people.

Today one of the most popular words in our days is follow or following. Almost all social media platforms are bringing up people, events, products or institutions you should follow. People's fame is decided by the number of followers they have. As a child of God, do you have to follow everyone and everything?

Followership is a key teaching in our walk with God. It runs from the old testament to the new testament. Having a relationship with God is about following Him and Him only. The first warning God gave Isaiah was not to follow the way of people. Beloved God has His ways and the world also has ways. Romans chapter one gives us some of the ways of the world. Romans 1:28-32 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,
backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

Those who follow the ways of God live opposite lives compared to the ones mentioned earlier. Before you follow someone ask yourself who is the person following. 1 Corinthians 11:1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. Child of God, you must unfollow anyone and anything that does not conform and follow Christ. The criteria for the believer in following anyone or thing is that the personality is following Christ including men and women of God. God did not call you to follow men blindly but to follow the Christ in them.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ forgive for following men but not you. I pray for mercy as I open my ears to hear your call and to follow you in Jesus' name. Amen.
