THE LIGHT OF HOPE

Isaiah 9:2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.

What is the difference between the light that God created in Genesis 1:3 and the lights that were created in Genesis 1: 14-19? The light in verse three is a personality while those mentioned afterwards are elements of nature to mark seasons and times.

Genesis 1:2-3The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. The appearance of the Spirit of God in the opening book of the Bible gave birth to a personality called  Light. In Luke we the Spirit of God involved in the birth of a personality.  Luke 1:34-35 "How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. The personality that was talked about in Genesis is Jesus Christ. John 1:4-5 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. Beloved the light that liberates men who sit in darkness is not the powerful lights of Portland Oregon nor the shangalia lights hanging in homes of people. There are nations whose streets are filled with lights yet the people who walk in these streets live in great darkness, there are homes and rooms filled with shapes and shades of varieties of light yet the people are in thick darkness. Discotheques are filled with gleaming lights yet filled with people living in gross darkness.

Darkness is the absence of Jesus Christ in a person or place. The earth was in utter darkness until the appearance of the Light. Genesis 1:2-3 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
People and places are in darkness because of the absence of Jesus Christ. Wars, crimes, pandemics, and rebellion are on the rise because humanity is being denied the gospel of Christ Jesus. Woe to people, homes, institutions and nations that denies people the privilege of receiving the light. Oh, how our world would have become a better place if it flooded with the gospel of Jesus Christ? Child of God arise and spread the Light of Hope.

Prayer: Holy Spirit empower me to speak of your of the Light that truly liberates people from darkness and deep darkness in Jesus' name. Amen
