FOR THE SAKE OF THE GOSPEL
Ezekiel 4:14 Then I said, "Not so, Sovereign LORD! I have never defiled myself. From my youth until now, I have never eaten anything found dead or torn by wild animals. No impure meat has ever entered my mouth."
There are a few people in the Bible who boldly admit they have never defiled themselves before. The young rich guy who encountered Jesus Christ in Luke 18: 19-24. The Apostle Peter in Acts 10: 10- 17, in our verse, the priest Ezekiel is under the instructions to do a similar thing. Sometimes in our walk with the Lord for the sake of the salvation of others and the furtherance of the kingdom of God, we may at one point in time by the instruction of the Holy Spirit be led to speak, eat, travel, visit, venture a business, marry, relocate, relate or mingle with a person or a group. It may not sound right to our natural senses, but once in a while, it happens with greater conviction. Abraham, the father of our Faith, had to relocate in line with God's purpose, Hosea had to marry a prostitute in line with God's divine instructions, Peter, a Jewish man was to Cornelius a Gentile for the Gospel's sake. To all these people, the instruction of the Lord sounded weird, and they struggled with themselves to believe that the same God they have been trying to obey all this while will ask them to go against His will. But whenever God does such a thing is for a greater purpose and glory. God's plan for saving more people is more important than your single righteousness. If it is God sending you, He will ensure the integrity of your faith is kept to the very end. 2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Even Jesus Christ accepted to become sin to save sinners. Kindly note our discussion today is not promoting disobedience towards God. But we want to reestablish that through deep convictions of the Holy Spirit, God elects some of His children to go against the norm for the greater good of His Kingdom. If you venture such things by your means, you are bound to fail, but if it is God sending you for His purpose, then it will end in praise.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to look beyond myself and integrity when you give me an assignment for the sake of the kingdom of God in Jesus' name. Amen.
