SOMETHING TO BOAST ABOUT
Jeremiah 9:23-24 This is what the Lord says: "Let not the wise man gloat in his wisdom, or the mighty man in his might, or the rich man in his riches. Let them boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who is just and righteous, whose love is unfailing, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!
In times like these, we begin to appreciate such scriptures. When the wisdom of men have failed, when mighty men have fallen and rich has nowhere to display their riches then we understand better when David said in
Psalm 20:7-8 Some [trust] in chariots, and some in horses; But we will make mention of the name of Jehovah our God. They are bowed down and fallen; But we are risen, and stand upright.
As an individual, your boast should always be I know the Lord Jesus Christ and I have my name in the Lamb's book of life. And you must also know the Lord as being Just in that once we believe in Jesus Christ you have been justified and if you don't believe in Him you are already condemned. John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
Your righteousness account is credited when you believed in Jesus Christ.
Genesis 15:6 Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.
Finally, we understand the unfailing nature of God's love. He does not love you when you stop your wrongdoing rather He loves you in that state.
Romans 5:8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
If your boast is in the Lord Jesus Christ, you will experience his Justice, righteous and unfailing love. When the wisdom and riches of men fail you will confess Daniel 11:32b but for the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
