THE SHERPHERD AND SHEEP RELATIONSHIP

Ruth 3:1 One day Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi said to her, “My daughter, I must find a home for you, where you will be well provided for.

Every shepherd's greatest delight is seeing His flock reach a state of fulfillment. The shepherd cares more about the sheep's well-being than the sheep does. Naomi had the responsibility of finding a home for Ruth, it was not an option. The sheep has fewer responsibilities than the shepherd in the shepherd-sheep relationship. However, the blessing is only bestowed upon the sheep when they follow the shepherd's instructions. David describes the duties of a shepherd in Psalm 23.

Psalm 23:2–5 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk  through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil,  for you are with me; your rod and your staff,   they comfort me. You prepare a table before me  in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil;  my cup overflows. Ruth went to the threshing floor at night based on the instructions on Naomi.

The instructions represents the rod and staff in Psalm 23 which is God's word given to us by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Ruth's obedience to Naomi, who stood in for the Word revealed to us under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, ultimately led Boaz to choose to bid for Ruth's redemption right.

The Holy Spirit is required to guide you through God's word in order to bring about divine accomplishment. You must obey if you want to flourish.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, grant me the obedience heart to follow you all the way so that I can live to enjoy everything you have planned for me.
