THE NATURR OF A TRUE BELIEVER

Ruth 1:16-17 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.”

When Ruth decided to follow her mother in law Noami to Judah, she did it with no strings attached. Her mother-in-law, Naomi, made it plain to Ruth that she would not remarry in order to have children, and even if she did, Ruth would not have any chance due to age differences. Ruth 1:11–14. Orpah made a U-turn when Noami mentioned her inability to sought them out in terms of marriage. It is important to remember that Ruth and her mother-in-law had a relationship that went beyond marital ties. She longingly sought a relationship with the God of Naomi beyond marriage. The Almighty God, who made the earth and heavens.

Ruth's actions were revealed in 2 Corinthians 6:17–18. Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the LORD . Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you. And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty.” Ruth had an eye of faith and had also come to believe in the Lord Almighty if she was able to see past her mother-in-law's mystery and even come to the conclusion that, in spite of her suffering, her God was stronger and better than what she had served in her native Moab. Her understanding of Luke 9:62 was revealed to her. Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

In summary Ruth's life tells of one who separated herself to serve the true living God, she remained focused not turning back in the midst of challenges. Be like Ruth and not like Lot's wife. 

 

Prayer: Holy Spirit help me to stay focused in walk with the Lord. In the midst of the pressures of life, grant me the focus to look unto Jesus only.
