THE GREAT REQUEST

1 Kings 3:9 Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?”

Words like hear intelligently (often with implications of attention, obedience, attentively,  carefully,  certainly, consent, consider, be content, declare, diligently, discern, and give ear are closely related to the word wisdom. Proverbs 1:2-3 To know wisdom and instruction, To perceive the words of understanding, To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity. One thing certain about Wisdom is that it is God-given. Wisdom begins with God. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. Why is the wisdom needed? 1 Kings 3:9a Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong.

Wisdom is needed because of people management and to distinguish between right and wrong. Once you deal with human beings you need wisdom. Wisdom is essential in our daily interactions with humans and is eminent to the survival of the human race.  Where there is a lack of it the people perish. When a person or people can't decipher between right and wrong it is a result of lack of wisdom. Where there is a lack of wisdom we must ask the giver. James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. People are distinguished by great wisdom. Ask and it shall be given.

Prayer: Holy Spirit I ask in the name of Jesus Christ that I will be endowed with godly wisdom to rule and reign in life in Jesus' name. Amen
